Philippines Unpredictability

I’m here in the Philippines on a routine business trip. With the jams and long queues at the airport, it’s always wise to leave the office earlier to Pre-empt any potential incidents that could happen. I realized today what a wise decision that was. Knowing the condition of most taxis on the road in Manila, I had asked Rosalind, one of my Filipino colleague handling admin to help me get a taxi from a reputable company.

Alas, no matter how much planning you put into things, sometimes it just goes wrong. πŸ™‚ this happened a number of years ago, and happened again today…..

The Taxi I was in started to overheat, and broke down.

We had to stop by a gas station (just like back in May 2006), and the driver opened up his radiator which just burst out with hot steaming water. After he refilled his radiator, we went on our way again, but had to stop a second time to transfer me to another cab as his radiator was heating up again.

We made it to the airport with time to spare…. That’s why this calls for contingency planning. πŸ˜€
