Last Minute Scrambling

It must have been the most last minute discovery ever. On Tuesday, Chris suddenly realised that nobody apart from me had a visa for entering Australia. This was a shock discovery to say the least. Of course, panic took over for a while, but ever resourceful, Chris hunted down the Australian High Commission, and their help line, only t be greeted and assisted by an automated phone.

The application of a vias will take 5 days, and cost A$70 each! After much gnashing of teeth, she finally found out that the Aussies weren’t so bad after all. They had this thing called the Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) which is an electronic visa which is approved completely online within minutes, and costs only A$20 each. So, we scrambled back home on Tuesday night, and I got Chris and the kids all enrolled with a visiting ETA.

Thank goodness! If not for the brilliance of the perfect woman, we’d have had a rude shock at Changi Airport on Friday night.
